Do you approach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ because you feel they need it, or because Jesus told you to go? Do you spread the word of The Lord because you wish to find Him in the process, or because you are living out His presence in your life? These are subtle differences that make a difference.
Are you in a situation that calls for more prayer than you can muster? Do you need the prayers of many, or at least a couple of righteous believers to intercede for you? Is your heart broken, your health waning, or your spirit down? Well maybe it is time to call out for the help of the saints in your church, or seek the prayers of someone you trust.
Do you walk with God, or yearn to walk with Him? How close is your relationship, and how desperately do you seek His presence? In your desire for salvation and eternal life do you place those goals above loving God? If so, do you realize that there will never be a quiet stroll through the garden, or a conversation spent speaking without having to utter a word?
How long will you wait for God’s answer to a prayer before you give up and try to do what you have asked of Him, or abandon that thing altogether? His silence defines our faith; in the quiet stillness we wait, until at last we feel in the darkness for the edges of our belief.
Are you studying and memorizing scripture and thinking that this will make you righteous or give you insight into God? My friends, only one thing will perfect you in the eyes of God... obedience. I would rather do one small thing perfectly than a thousand partially.
Where do you hide, and why? Are you afraid of failure, of displeasing God, sin, or the pain of living? Why do you feel inclined to seek out a hiding place or shelter yourself from life? Many of us hide ourselves from the world around us; while others hide from God Himself.
A couple of questions for you today... do you hear Jesus calling to you, and if so, are you prepared to come to Him as He beckons? Listen to His voice, and go to Him... he will give you rest.
How great was the sacrifice of Jesus Christ? Have you ever stopped to consider the unfathomable depth of His accomplishment? Maybe you can get a glimpse in your mother’s loving eyes.
So often we think that there is but one way that we are called, and that God has a set process for leading us. We somehow get in our minds that there is but one way to serve God, and that if we don’t fit into the biblical walk exhibited by one of the twelve apostles then we are not correct in our faith. In fact, we are all unique and so is our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Do you feel like a victim of Adam and Eve? Do you view yourself as having been strapped with the responsibility for a sin they committed? Nothing could be further from the truth... in fact, the realization of our own sins is more than enough to deal with. So what did we receive from Adam that brings us death?
Are you a Saint? Are you Holy and assured of heaven after death? If so, that is wonderful, and if not... why not? We are all called to be saints, but what do we do with our exalted calling? Is that where God’s vision for us is complete, or is there more?
How is my prayer life? This is a something that we should ask from time to time and it should cause us to adjust our praying according to God’s response in answering this all important question. It is more than introspection. When we pose our question it requires that God also weigh in because it is He with whom we speak.
The day after going to the altar and accepting Jesus Christ as our savior, Satan begins to work at us... will our faith withstand the onslaught? Believing is easy on the mountain, but when we go back to the valley we must cry out to the Lord for help... prepare yourself for that moment.
When you are lifted up and standing in that spiritual high place with Jesus do you want to stay there forever? When you are feeling the electric thrill of faith coursing through you and every hair on your body has risen as if in unison to the breeze of God's breath, do you want to remain in that state always? Well of course the answer is yes, but that is not what we are meant to do.
Many devout Christians will reach a place in their faith where they will call out to the Lord asking that they join Him in the suffering He experienced. One feels that if God breaks our bread and pours out our wine that the relationship we have with Him will grow all the closer, but something unexpected happens... it isn't God who breaks us and pours us out.
