Are we content with what God gives us? You might think that I am speaking of physical provision, but this question applies equally to spiritual gifts. Do we look at what others have and envy them? Well, in many instances, having much can be a curse, leading to discontent, a lust for more, and the sin of worshipping other gods. It is best that we have little, and  to be satisfied with what we have, than to have much and worship those things as we work to have more of them.

When we see ourselves as strong, mighty, and self-sufficient then we are foolish, but when we consider ourselves as small, and humble before God, then we are wise indeed. How do we view ourselves, and conduct our affairs? Do we spend our time gathering sustenance from God’s Word, seeking safety and protection in His shadow, walking obediently in the way of righteousness, and completing our day by humbly worshiping before the Father’s feet?

Is your life so disjointed, and your spiritual journey so up and down that you often are brought to doubt that God is at work in you at all? If this is you then you need to lean on the Word and listen as scripture reassures you that God is absolutely desiring to be the focal point of your life, and to give you His joy, and overwhelming rest, peace, and comfort in Himself.
