Did you preach a wonderful sermon this week, or do something amazing for your church? Have you been given accolades for your teaching ability, or praised for a miracle that God performed following your intercession in prayer? Perhaps you were recognized for years of service to your congregation, and puffed out your chest in satisfaction. Well, If we claim the glory for any of these things publicly, or even privately in the depths of our heart, then whose will were we serving if not our own? Our service to God should be performed by humbly Seeking and doing God’s will, then stepping back and yielding all glory to Him.

Praying for the Glory of God in the face of Calamity

All that we do every day should be done for the glory of God. When we are set upon by our enemies, and we call upon God for help, it shouldn’t be to satisfy our own selfish reasons but to free us so that we might better do His will. We should summon His aid so that He can demonstrate His might, and His love for us before all the world. Our testimony regarding deliverance, provision, and His love, should always be given to glorify our Heavenly Father alone. 

Who is the Real “I” in our Life of Faith?

Do we give God honor, worship, and glory for all that is our life? The opportunities that come to us, the food on our table, the children we beget, and the loves we experience in all of their splendor? It is so easy to say “I did this!”, or to accept the glory when someone says of us “Here is a man who has done amazing things!” We do this every day, and if you listen to yourself as you speak you will be led to acknowledge that “I” is your favorite word... it is the most used word of all mankind.

As we go through life, even the life of a staunch believer, how much attention do we pay to glorifying God? If a pastor is building up a church and it fails, he is disappointed, embarrassed, and even humiliated, but does he feel these things for God, or for himself? If a man prays he asks for many things, but how few are meant to glorify God, and how many for his own need, and glory? All we do should be done to glorify God; this is what Jesus taught us.

What have we done entirely of ourselves? What have we done that we can claim wholly as ours? Not a single thing can be accomplished that God has not facilitated it, so to Him we owe the glory. Our very next breath, the strength in our arms, the power of our thoughts, the circumstances, and the successes of every venture, they are all of Him, by Him, and through Him. In this regard we should yield all glory to God. Does this cause our pride to fidget, and squirm within us?

Stealing Glory from Before the Throne God

Do we march through life with our heads held high; prideful in our own accomplishments? How about in our spiritual life? Are we arrogant, and proud in all that God, and His Son Jesus have done for us, and claim it as our own success? It is so easy to return from one of life’s many battlefields, and accept not only the credit for having won that war, but to receive the accolades for the victory... when in truth, it was God’s strong right arm that had defeated the enemy that confronted us, and the sacrifice of Jesus that gives us life.

God’s Will, God’s Call, God’s Glory... Is it our Temptation?

Has God called you, and given you a job to do for Him? Is this job beyond your abilities, and have you been ignoring His voice because you feel inadequate? Perhaps you started to answer, but have let it go stagnate because you can’t see how to proceed... well in either case God is with you, but in order to overcome the difficulties and obstructions that you perceive are blocking you... you must lean on prayer, and listen to His voice. Then, as He brings success, you must give Him the glory.

In this day and age when the Church has been taken hostage by the influence of the world, and often forgets who it really is... who it represents in power; it isn’t surprising that we as individual believers find ourselves weakened, and led astray. Are you sanctified, Holy, and doing the work of the Lord, or just working hard at religious things? Are you serving the church you attend, and other institutions around you, because they do holy things, and yet you yourself have not been sanctified? To do Holy work for God we must first sanctify ourselves, otherwise the works we do are just good deeds in the eyes of men. Who do you serve, and in what capacity?

Pride, the Danger in Intercession

Have you ever asked for healing prayer and received relief from your illness as a result? When this happened did you elevate those who prayed for you? If someone sick came to you for prayer, and as a result of your praying for them they were healed did you have a feeling of accomplishment as if you had done this, or felt some small part in the miracle? If either of these is true, then you have misappropriated God’s glory.

Joining Our will with God’s

Are you in synch with God? Do you ever hear His voice giving you something to do, and then ask Him if He is certain that you should be doing whatever it is? On occasion the Lord can ask us to do things that seem so bizarre, and as a matter of fact appear to defy logic. Why was Jesus asked to tarry until Lazarus had died before He went to Him? Wouldn’t it have been much easier and made more sense to heal Him before he died? God has a purpose and a plan for us, and although it might appear impossible to to us, or even unwise, in the end it makes perfect sense.

Fear and the Silencing of God’s Glory

Have you ever received a divine healing, or perhaps known someone who did? When this occurred did you praise and glorify God? If not, why? Have you heard tell of people who were miraculously healed, and yet you were skeptical, or doubted they were ever sick in the first place? If so, then why? In our modern society, we are reluctant to acknowledge God when healings occur... why is this so? It is because our faith is under attack by unbelievers and we have succumb to their influence. It is Fear in some form.

Do you know that the fullness of God is available to you? Has anyone ever prayed for you and asked that you be granted spiritual power? Has someone asked in prayer that Jesus dwell within you and that you be filled with the fullness of God? Well if we are to follow in the example set by the Apostle Paul then that prayer should be prayed, because this is precisely what he prayed for all those at the church in Ephesus... Pastors, Deacons, and Saints, pray for your churches today!
