Who enters into our heart? In the house of our faith, which is our body, who do we place at the most honored seat at our table, and who do we allow to occupy the master’s bed? We have many who come into our lives, and many who vie for our worship and faith, but there is only one who deserves to be called master. Who is it in your life, your heart, and your soul? To whom have you opened your door?

You have undoubtedly heard the voice and the knocking of Jesus Christ at the door of your heart, and I hope you have let Him in at some point, but are you making Him knock again and again each time He desires to dine with you? Do you constantly treat Jesus as a visitor? Well, He doesn’t want to be a visitor at our door, but a family member in our home.

Do you ask God to do something for you in prayer and then wonder how long it will take Him to accomplish it? Do you ask and then couch what you have requested in language which shows your doubt in His power by providing Him a way out of doing that thing you have asked of Him? When we do not expect God to do the things we have asked in the name of Jesus then we have lost our faith, and no longer believe and trust in the Lord... we have relegated ourself to chasing after clever fables. Do you truly believe in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit? Then, expect!

What is it about prayer that we value the most? Is it the time spent with God? The comfort it brings us? Knowing that we are heard? Realizing that we are never alone? Finding joy in praying for others? The list goes on and on doesn’t it... but the one thing that stifles our spiritual lives more than any other is making the answer to our prayers paramount in gauging the success of our prayer lives; and not just answers, but those we have dictated, or in other words, when we want OUR will to direct God’s answer to our prayers.

Do we forgive others so that God can forgive us? Do we believe in God so that we open the way for his belief in us? Do we trust in God’s Word which allows Him to trust ours? So often we say “God did not answer my prayer”, but I ask you... did you believe, forgive, answer “yes” to His will, that He might respond in kind to you?

Do you stand at the ready, listening for God’s voice? Do you wait upon the Lord in this manner? We know instinctively that God is with us always, but sometimes we forget that He isn’t just there... He is also waiting to hear our voice. When we cry out to Him, when we joyfully sing to Him, when our pain and suffering leaves our throat in sorrowful moans... He waits on us. As we speak to Him in prayer He responds in Mercy, and yes, in judgement.

Do you win souls to Jesus Christ, and by doing so fill the nets of heaven for God Himself? What did it take for you to follow Jesus once you heard His voice calling you? Did you drop whatever you were doing and follow Him, or did you look away and think about it for a while? When Jesus calls us, His presence is so overpowering that we abandon our old life and begin our journey with Him at once, but at that moment... do we really know who He is?

What are you doing as you wait on God? Do you even know what you are waiting on? We have all been through times when we aren’t really certain what we would like the Lord to do for us, or what we would have Him do in our lives and faith, but being adrift on a sea of uncertainty is not good. So when you find yourself becalmed on a motionless ocean, then pray for a breeze, a direction, and wait on Him. Then as you wait go about the tasks of living in the faith that Jesus. And God’s Word have taught.
