God speaks to us, and asks us to do something, but at that particular moment it is inconvenient for us, so we say “I will do it tomorrow Lord”, and we go about our business, however, when we are faced with a trial in our own lives we pray for His relief, and expect Him to answer immediately. Does this sound familiar? So often we hold God to a standard of immediacy that we ourselves would never agree to, and yet we treat the God of all creation as though he was our personal servant; sent to do our bidding. Why is it that we lose faith, or become angry with God when in our minds He is slow to act? In fact, is that really true?

Where do you turn for help with your children when you are out of answers yourself? When you are at the end of your rope, and hanging in the air, unable to save them, what do you do? Who do you call on? Whether we are talking about faith, physical sickness, addiction, or mental health, where do we go for assistance when every effort of our own has failed? Well, there is only one answer, and Jesus provides it!

Do you ask God to do something for you in prayer and then wonder how long it will take Him to accomplish it? Do you ask and then couch what you have requested in language which shows your doubt in His power by providing Him a way out of doing that thing you have asked of Him? When we do not expect God to do the things we have asked in the name of Jesus then we have lost our faith, and no longer believe and trust in the Lord... we have relegated ourself to chasing after clever fables. Do you truly believe in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit? Then, expect!

Has God placed something on your heart, or called you to do a work for Him that you are not doing? Have you listened to his voice speaking within you and made excuses to avoid performing as He has asked? We make lots of excuses when God speaks, sometimes because what He asks sounds hard, sometimes because it requires sacrifice, and sometimes because we doubt our ability. Are you in the midst of this right now?
