Are we prepared to walk in the desert? Can we tolerate the feeling of loneliness that will test us there? When there is nothing left in our lives except our thoughts and God, will we find that to be sufficient, and that we are prepared to join Him in this solitary life? Will we accept sanctification in Christ just as His apostles did? These are questions to consider regarding our being alone with God, and the sanctity that results from it.

When I first believed and professed Jesus as my savior, I thought I was sanctified, but what I really had become was a believer. I had gained general admission into salvation, heaven, but there was so much more that awaited. I was still moving easily back and forth into the secular world that I was seeking to transition out of... I was a double citizen; I had citizenship in the world and claimed another in heaven. I gained forgiveness in one world for the sins I committed in the other...

It is the Holy Spirit’s job to sanctify us, but do we treat his presence too lightly, and deny him the full access to our spirit that he requires to make this happen... to make us holy? Do we as Christians seek to become better men and women in Christ, but stop short of committing ourselves to the pursuit of holiness, and perfection, that should be our greater goal? Are we satisfied with doing enough to be saved, yet fall short of pursuing sanctification, and holiness?

Jesus is coming, He is coming as certainly as any promise we have ever received, but will we be ready for His return? Will we have been sanctified, and held blameless in our preparation for His arrival? When we believe in God, and Jesus Christ, then yield ourselves by loving them and obeying their commandments, God promises to sanctify us. We can’t do this ourselves, but we can accept His gift of redemption and righteousness by our believing, and His grace. We will find the peace of Christ by our absolute faith in Him. Are we ready? Will God sanctify us... spirit, soul, and body?
