When we are preparing to do something that frightens us or we are disheartened by events in our lives, have we forgotten that we are not alone? If we know who our God is, that He is all powerful, and that He goes before us, then these emotions, our fear and dismay, are signs that our faith in Him is not as strong as we have thought. Giving into fear and dismay are signs that we do not believe He will help us as He promised, or that we don’t believe He is able. So trust in our Lord, and know that these emotions that we are feeling are fed by the dark one, and aren’t right or true. In hard times lean on our Lord and know that He is able and there always.

How long have we been waiting on God? Do we even realize that we have been waiting, or do we simply think that we are living a life subject to our own actions? Are we going to a dead end job every day, or simply living hand to mouth, and not see that the Lord is about to do something wonderful in our lives? So many people wander about, or carry a heavy burden in their heart, feeling lost in the world when in fact they are one step or one day away from God calling their name. Are we one of those that are waiting today, and don’t realize it?

As I read Revelation today I came to the account of the seven angels who brought the final wrath of God on the world in the form of seven plagues, but this image was not all gloom and doom; with them came those who had conquered the beast along with its image and the number of its name. These conquerors were singing the song of Moses, and Jesus Christ, and I thought to myself that I wanted to be counted in that number. I want to be one of the victors who will sing with great joy, knowing that the final plagues are at hand. I want to be one who will lift his voice joyfully in the realization that the final victory is at hand. Mighty is our God, merciful and full of grace is He, yet perfect is His judgement upon the world. Do we long for this day?

Have we completed God’s will for us? Perhaps we don’t understand His will for our life well enough to know when we have started working at it, have reached certain mileposts in the effort, or completed it. One thing is for certain, Jesus knew what God’s will was for Him, and He stayed the course until at last that will had been accomplished in full. How wonderful it must have felt to have done all that God had asked. So how do we come to know the will that God has for us, and to know it well enough that we can work it to completion?
