This morning we are dwelling on praying during seasons of conflict. Paul gave these instructions to the Ephesians regarding being a Christian soldier, and they have served us well throughout the millennium...
“and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”
Ephesians 6:17-18 ESV
Are we reluctant to claim the grace of God in all aspects of our Christian life? Do we attempt to walk the Christian way but only call on the grace of God when we stumble or face hardship? If so, then we are not trusting in Him, and our prayers are not without ceasing.
Are we a people who begins our confrontation with trouble by leaning on the Lord for help, but who over time begins to waver in our faith? Are we like the Israelites who trusted in God for their protection in the wilderness only to lose hope when the armies of Pharaoh were approaching, and their backs were against the sea? How steadfast are we, and how firm is our grasp on the promises of our Father?
