What strives to keep us from sinning when we are tempted to our very limits? What haunts us day and night, and pursues us relentlessly to repent, and seek forgiveness for even the smallest of sins? It is the Holy Spirit, coupled with our conscience, and together they serve as the causeway that joins our spiritual selves with our physical selves; together they work to reconcile them. Do you have a nagging sin that causes you to toss and turn at night, or a guilt from long ago that convicts you when your mind tries to find peace? This is the burden that comes from a handshake between our faith, and our conscience which resides within our mind, and leads us to contrition.

Are you so embarrassed and disappointed in your sins that you shy away from God when He calls for you? Do you think that what you have done is so abhorrent to the Lord that just the sight of you will cause Him to shudder and withdraw? Well our God doesn’t see you as a sinner, but as forgiven, washed clean and made worthy by the blood of Christ. Because of Jesus God sees you as who you are, and what you are becoming, and not as who you once were. His love is made complete in you once again by His grace.

You are a professed Christian, and yet you are still nervous about entering into the presence of God? Do all of the sins in your life come flooding back, and beads of sweat pop out on your forehead at just the thought of meeting with the God of the Universe? This was the kind of concern the Jews who served in the temple had, and so much so that those who were tasked to go into the Holy of Holies would have a rope tied around them... in case they were struck dead and their body had to be recovered. Yet we are not to fear because we are cleansed in the blood of Christ; the perfect sacrifice... the lamb of God. So why are you nervous?
