God’s Mighty Armor, or the Emperor’s New Clothes?

We get up in the morning, say a quick prayer, wash ourselves, and then prepare to dress, but now the decisions of the day begin... we must decide what we should wear. We can easily decide which shirt to put on, or between blue jeans or slacks, but the one choice that determines how our day will really go is this... will we put on the armor of God? Will we wear just the breastplate, or the full suit of armor today? Perhaps at this point in our daily routine we fool ourselves completely, and wear nothing at all.

Are we ready for the challenges of life that stand before us? Do we use the call to be humble, and meek as an excuse for weakness and cowardice in the face of life’s trials? Well, Jesus was both humble and meek, but was anything but weak, or cowardly. When He faced temptation in the desert He did so with firm resolve, and as He went to the cross His courage and bravery was there for all to see. Are we ready to be brave, and more than conquerors with God by our side?

Why the World Hates the Christian, and where our Strength Comes From

It’s not easy to be Christian alongside societies that take exception to our faith because it is based on loving a God of mercy, grace, and peace. In a competitive world order where only the strong are meant to survive, and the meek are considered weak, those who love God, and don’t “look out for number one”, are considered an enemy. Our determined revulsion to worldly thinking is looked upon as threatening. This way of living is what Jesus chose us out of, and it makes the world hate and fear us.

Strength from Trust, and God’s will in the Quiet Places

What does it mean when scripture tells us to rest, be quiet, and trust the Lord? How does it sit with us when it says that this is our strength, and our salvation? To us this sounds so foreign because we feel like there must be something that God would have us do. We want to be actively involved like the young David who used his sling to slay Goliath. Yet in many scriptures we are told that by just sitting in the presence of God, and waiting we will experience our greatest strength... yet we resist this.
