Servant, or Slave; How far must we go in humility?

How humble do we allow ourselves to be before God? Do we maintain our freedom of self at all cost, do we sell ourselves as a servant who works for a price, or, are we totally owned as a slave and kept by our master? How far are we willing to go into our servitude? How far will we allow our humility to take us as we humble ourselves at the feet of the Lord? Now let’s ask ourselves this... how completely are we prepared to humble ourselves before one another? Are we totally free and independent, a servant, or are we truly a slave to those around us.

Are we the Servants, Stewards, and Slaves, of Jesus and our Father God?

As Christians we are meant to be the servants of Jesus Christ, and moreover, the stewards of the mysteries of God, but what does this mean? Well, a servant is not a slave, but is someone who performs duties for another, while a slave is the property of his master. Given this definition, we are to perform tasks for Jesus as His willing servant. A steward, on the other hand, is not simply a waiter who takes orders and brings food to the table, but is one who maintains the stores, provides meals for others, and takes care of them… quite often while they are traveling. As we look at our lives of faith do we see the ways in which we are serving others as Jesus would have us do, and are we functioning as stewards of God to those who are traveling the way of faith towards Him?

How humble do you allow yourself to be before God? Do you maintain your freedom of self at all cost, maybe you sell yourself as a servant who works for a price, or are you totally owned as a slave? How far are you willing to go into your servitude, how far does your humility take you as you humble yourself at the feet of the Lord? Now let me ask this... how completely are you prepared to humble yourself before one another? Are you independent, a servant, or are you a slave to those around you?
