All in Seeking Faith

When we are running the race of faith how much effort and enthusiasm do we apply to it? Though we are faithful, some of us will sit like spectators and watch the gifted athletes run, some will strive only for pleasure and never expect to win the race, a few will be running so that others will call them faithful, and then there are those who run as though against themselves, only desiring to do a bit better than the last time they entered the field, but Paul tells us that anything other than running to win the prize of eternal life, and God’s pleasure, is not enough. So how are we running our race of faith, and what is our event?

Sometimes we wander into a place where we begin to feel comfortable in our faith, but if you are standing in such a place it is a dangerous place to be. We are sinners by nature, and are told to continuously be seekers of salvation. It is only by constant renewal that we make progress towards our heavenly destination; are you standing in the shadow of a comfortable faith today?

Who is ultimately responsible for your salvation? Who do you look to to guide you through faith and into eternity with God? It is so easy to lean on our religion, look to our individual churches, or denominations, and even some trusted persons of faith, to provide us with the truth, but when it comes right down to our faith and salvation we alone have the responsibility for believing, and what we have faith in must be discerned, and determined by us. No other man except the risen Christ can bring us to God. No other spirit than the Holy Spirit can guide us.
