All in Overcoming our nature
Are you a branch on the vine of Jesus Christ? Do you know what that means to you? Well, when we are grafted into the vine of Jesus, we become righteous as He is righteous, and free of sin as He is free of sin. Grafting doesn’t transform the branch’s nature, but it is from that moment on that the branch is supported and fed by the new vine to which it is attached. Are you fed and supported by Jesus? Is your fruit made more perfect and fuller by its new source of nourishment?
Are we lost, and attempting to overcome the worldly nature that has taken hold of us? Do we think that by doing certain works, or behaving in a moral manner, that we can draw ourselves out from the vile nature of the world, which is sin? Well, there is only one way we can overcome the world, and that is by believing, and having faith, in Jesus Christ... the Son of God.
When we look at Jesus we see a humble man, and yet at the Last Supper His disciples argued over which of them would be considered the best, or the greatest. This is an oxymoron... how can they want to be the greatest follower of a man of absolute humility; the greatest of the least? It is human nature to want to be the best at what we do... even if it is being humble. Is humility something you struggle with? Is placing your pride and conceit under subjugation impossible? Then turn to Jesus.
