All in Loving God

Do we love God, and Jesus Christ, as we should, like we did when we first believed? Or, have we allowed the mechanics of our religion to become the focus of our spirit’s efforts, and lost sight of loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? We say we love, but do we truly love our Father, or just the things we believe that we are doing for Him? Do we say the repetitive words in worship that we believe will honor Him, but find that we have abandoned our walks with Him in the cool of the evening? Have we allowed ourselves to become as the Ephesians?

When we say that we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, our love should be more than just the recitation of these words. Loving God requires much more than simple emotion, words, or some superficial faint at faithfulness, it takes bold action, and every ounce of might we can muster to accomplish it. Love is not a proclamation, it is action born from truth. God expects nothing less.

How good do we think God is? How faithful is He to His Word, and how complete is His love for us? As Christians we have the utmost faith in these virtues of God because we see their evidence revealed to us through Jesus Christ. He gave the very life of His Son Jesus in exchange for our redemption,His goodness is revealed to us by His Holy Spirit, and He showers us in a cleansing downpour of mercy, and grace

We come to God with our needs, and thank Him for those things He has done for us; we even ask Him to forgive us, and to help us be more like Him, but how often do we really tell Him “I Love You”? Are we guilty of treating our prayers of love for God like Hallmark Valentine’s Day cards, and find ourselves repeating to Him someone else’s thoughts, and words, or do we open our hearts and pour our own personal feelings out to Him as Asaph did?
