In celebration of Holy Week, Easter morning, and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, I want to share something with you that I wrote a few years ago. Instead of our typical devotional message I want to share a poem that I hope you will enjoy and contemplate throughout the day and year to come.
Easter Dawn - He is Risen
By Rich Forbes
Dawn comes; glorious overture,
Rising in pronounced crescendo
With first glimpse of Easter
Sun... bursting forth in glory.
I sit sipping my morning tea,
Basking in the predawn beauty,
Relishing spiritual peace
At the new day coming;
All senses alive and gasping
In the moment of brilliant birth.
Oh this song would last till dusk...
The joy of all life singing.
God's reminder; eternal hope;
At the inception of His coming;
Now His Lamb, our Redeemer;
Who is risen; Holy Lord.
God bless you one and all as we encounter our redeemer while walking along our personal roads towards Emmaus, with our hearts burning within us… having been kindled by the gospel, and set fire by our faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for your Son Jesus Christ, and his obedience to your will. Thank you for His sacrifice as He laid down His life for us. Thank you for His body, and His blood, that have redeemed us, washed away our sins, and given us life everlasting. Help us Abba as we walk through this world spreading His gospel, and remembering Him always. Holy, Holy, Holy, are you our God who so loved the world that you sent Him to redeem us. Praised be your name now and forever as we pray to you in your Son’s Holy name, and call out to Him for His intercession before you. Wash us clean in the blood of Jesus, and forgive us as we repent of our sins. Deem us to be worthy, in Him, of eternity with you, and help us to glorify you as we grow in our faith, and take our seat at your table.
“And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”
Luke 24:5-7 ESV
