Dreams, Prophesies, and Visions; in this the Age of Spirit and Truth

07/13/2022

Do you dream and awaken in surprise to find that what you thought was real, was only a dream? Have you ever had a heart to heart conversations with the Lord, or received a Word from Him, that was incredibly wonderful, and so vividly real that you just knew it had to be prophetic, or biblical? Most of the time our dreams are transient, and fade from our memory once we are fully awake, but occasionally, especially if we tell someone what we have dreamed, they become lasting memories. When the Lord actually speaks to us in our dreams, they bridge the ether between the physical and spiritual world so completely that we wake up with the tastes and smells of heaven still fresh in our senses. Dreams are not of the past, and yes, we still dream divine dreams today…

““And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.”

‭‭Joel‬ ‭2:28‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Whether we have strayed away from our faith, or simply practice it without the necessary intensity, by taking it for granted, or believing it is of the past, the future, but not of the present; God is with us now! Whether we deny His voice as a person, a nation, or a people, He is here, and when we return to worshiping the Lord, and Jesus Christ, in the Spirit as we should, with all our hearts, He blesses us in amazing ways, and speaks to us in prophesy, dreams, and visions… not in some distant age, but right now, because the fullness of the age is upon us. The Messiah has come, our savior is risen, and God’s Spirit has been poured out on us!

““Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;”

‭‭Joel‬ ‭2:12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God has not retreated from our midst, and Jesus is actively interceding for us at this very moment before His throne. We are alive in he age of divine wonder; God’s Holy Spirit has been breathed onto us, and the time that John prophesied of is unfolding all around us today… but are hearing the Word as it is being spoken to the churches? Are we listening to God as He speaks to us today, and tonight, in prophesy, visions, snd yes… our dreams? Just as in the days of Moses, we should be afraid to deny these things that have been written… for fear that the Lord will lift His hand from us.

“And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream. Not so with my servant Moses. He is faithful in all my house. With him I speak mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in riddles, and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and he departed.”

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭12:6-9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God spoke to Moses, Jacob, Samuel, Joel, and Jesus; now, as we worship Him in Spirit and truth, He speaks to us too; if we will only receive the reality of what it means to worship Him in this way, in the fullness of Spirit and Truth. Listen as Jesus speaks to the Samaritan woman at the well…

“You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.””

‭‭John‬ ‭4:22-26‬ ‭ESV‬‬

So we are not waiting on the Messiah to come, the resurrection to occur, nor the outpouring of God’s Spirit upon us, and the time has come to worship in Spirit and Truth. Although we are awaiting the second, and final coming of Christ, as the book of Revelation describes, Jesus abides in us now, and it is now that we live in the age of prophesy, dreams, and visions. Are we afraid to admit that the Lord speaks to us today? Are we wanting to deny that He is truly with us, and that His judgement is not some distant future event veiled in religious myth? Does it frighten us to admit that the second coming might be imminent? Well we are living in the time when our sons and daughters will prophesying, when our old men will dream dreams, and our young men are seeing visions… are we faithful, and courageous enough to accept this Spiritual outpouring as truth? Or, are we hiding our dreams beneath a basket?

““You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for allowing us to live in this age of prophesy, dreams and visions. We thank you Lord for revealing yourself to us in these wonderful ways, and for speaking words of spiritual edification, encouragement, and of your Son’s eminent return to us. We praise you for your mercy and grace as you use these amazing ways of speaking, and revelation, to redirect the wayward and save the lost. Help us Father to interpret what you show us, and speak through us. Give us the courage to deliver the messages you are speaking through us.

Holy, Holy, Holy, are you our God who desires to reveal yourself to us in powerful ways. Praised be your name for every prophesy, dream, and vision that we receive from you. Instill in us the gift of discernment as we explore the fruit of our night’s slumber, and seek to interpret our visions abandoned dreams alike. Hear our prayers both morning and night as we ask to be washed in the blood of your Son Jesus, and made ready to enter into our day’s, and night’s conversation with you. Speak to us Father, and let us not miss a Word. Give us the faith of Christ as we humble ourselves before you, and hear our prayers as we ask that you speak to us of your plan and will for us. Guide us by your voice to come to you, and judge us to have been attentive, and obedient when you have spoken to us. In this way find us worthy of eternity in your presence, having not ignored what you have revealed to us for our ears, and the ears of the world.
