Praying through the Night

07/15/2021

This morning I want to talk about praying in the night. We all experience those nights when we can’t sleep and all of our problems and fears come bubbling to the surface where our mind just can’t let them go and our spirit tosses and turns within us. Last night the Lord woke me from a deep sleep, and placed a burden on my heart for someone who will read this devotional; someone who is experiencing such a night… then He asked me to speak to them from my heart to theirs.

“Thou tellest my wanderings: Put thou my tears into thy bottle: Are they not in thy book? When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: This I know; for God is for me. In God will I praise his word: In the LORD will I praise his word.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭56:8-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Today I am not going to write an instructional lesson, no, I am only going to share with you one simple truth… God is with you always, and He will lovingly see you through your problems if you will only bring them to Him in the name of Jesus.

This is the message that the Lord put on my heart for you today…

Night Prayers

By Rich Forbes

Do you love the Lord, God, Jesus,

More than your life,

Laid in your bed, and talked to them,

Through the darkest night?

Is there any place you’d rather be

Than in God’s arms right now

As He calms your deepest fears

In a whisper, from the shroud

Can you feel His blessed finger

wipe away all of your tears

Do you moan and sigh with heartbreak

As He calms your dread and fears

Sometimes we talk with Jesus,

Sometimes our Father God,

Sometimes the Holy Spirit helps

Our prayers rise as we sob.

Satan says you’re all alone

On those nights of great despair;

How good it feels to talk to Them,

And know God’s always there.

Then just before the sunrise

“In Jesus name we pray”

And know that all is well with us

We’ll make it through the day

“Amen” we say with arms stretched out

To hold Him one more time.

“Amen”, before day breaks new,

“Amen”, the sun will shine

Prayer:

Father, thank you for the nights when we talk through all my darkest problems, and you comfort me in them. Lord, thank you for the peace you give me in those times of my greatest travail, and you calm the tempest that rages within me. You are my soothing oil when I am raw, and overcome by the world. You surround me with yourself Father, as I lay weeping in the midst of you, Jesus, and your Holy Spirit. I sink into your arms a lost man, but you lift me up, and restore my hope. Holy, Holy, Holy, are you my God who mends my heart, and leads me through every valley. I praise your name for each of my tears that you wipe away, and place in you bottle. You are merciful and comfort me always. You are my deliverer, and my provider; you run your fingers over my face, and call me by name. You are my safe harbor, my strong tower, and you give me hope and an escape from every trouble. Thank you Father for your Son Jesus who has redeemed me and taught me to pray. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that prays for me when the words are too deep in my soul for me to bring forth. Wash me clean in the blood of Jesus so that I will be free of sin, and can come to you pure, and walk with you in the quiet night. Speak wisdom into me Father, and pour your love into my heart. Seat me at your table each night for an evening meal of your Word, and a time of peace with you. Let this be my hope, my belief, and the faith I have in the coming of Jesus… let this foretell of the eternity with you that I so long for.

“The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, To all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them. The LORD preserveth all them that love him: But all the wicked will he destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: And let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭145:18-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬
