Today we celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ, born into the lineage of David. So it is only appropriate that we do so in verse as David would have done, and perhaps some of us will even play the lyre, and sing these words of His coming, and life. Messianic Prophesy became reality on this day long ago; so let’s contemplate Him and His life in this very special way.
Our Salvation Come to stay By Rich Forbes - 12/25/2021
Merry Christmas, let us pray,
Jesus Christ is born this day.
Swaddled in cloth a precious babe,
Laid in a manger in the hay.
Soon the world will come to know him
Our redemption begins this way.
Some will embrace him, but not all,
Love and miracles then the fall
Resting in the arms of Mary
Crucify Him the shout, and call,
Then comes the whip the thorns, the nails,
Christ, suffering pain, forgives us all.
This the journey of our King
This the life of which we sing
From the manger to the cross
On Calvary the hammer’s ring.
It is finished comes His last breath
But in three days there is no sting.
The cross now stands stark and alone
Sin is broken, not one bone,
Stone rolled back His tomb is empty
In folded cloth His glory shown.
Walking now, towards Emmaus,
He meets us there we’re not alone.
Oh great joy, Christ is risen
Death no longer is our prison
No tears, no pain, no suffering there.
The Lamb of God has been given.
All mankind now rests in peace
He took death, our sins forgiven.
Merry Christmas, let us pray,
Jesus Christ is born this day.
Into the world God’s precious babe
Fullness of time begins today
Now the world has come to know him
Our salvation is here to stay.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for this day in which your Son Jesus was born, and your love for the world that became evident in Him. Thank you for the sound of His first breath that echoes through time from your mountain, and rushes like water down every valley. Holy, Holy, Holy, are you our God whose desire is that we become your children; heirs and joint heirs with your firstborn, Jesus. Praised be your name Lord for the mercy, and grace, you have given us in Jesus, and for His intercession before you now. Wash us in His blood as we pray in contrition, for forgiveness, and see His image in us as we stand before you in judgement. We pray that you will find us pleasing to you, and seat us at your table forevermore.
The prophesy:
““On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.”Zechariah 13:1 ESV
The Fulfillment:
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!””Luke 2:11-14 ESV
