As true believers in Christ, are we prepared to not only live forever, but to live as the children of God? Can we even imagine the joy that will spring forth as God pours His love out upon us as His sons and daughters? In that moment it will be announced that we have received Jesus as our savior, and the Holy Spirit as our comforter, but even more, that we have overcome sin and death through Jesus. We will then receive what we had only dared to hope for... our acceptance as the children of God.
“The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.”
Revelation 21:7 ESV
Some will receive the judgement of the eternal fire where they will burn, and although we are undeserving in ourselves of anything more, Jesus who bears the grace of God will have redeemed us, stood in intercession for us, and loved us into the arms of God the Father. O, what a day that will be!
“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.””
Revelation 21:8 ESV
What a transformation we will have undergone when with eyes cast down we await the pronouncement of our judgement, and hear God’s voice announce that our sins have been purified through Christ, and that not only is He our God, but that we are His children as well! O, Glorious Day, when the truth behind the mystery becomes known to us, and we call him Everlasting Father!
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 ESV
In our instant of overwhelming joy Jesus will join the heavenly host to sing our praise as His new brothers, and we will see his radiant face in all its glory, and splendor. Are we ready for this? Are we following Jesus and obeying His commandments? Are we loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? Are we allowing the Holy Spirit to give us remembrance, and pray for us when we have no words? Have we picked up our cross, and followed Jesus?
“For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying, “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.” And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children God has given me.””
Hebrews 2:11-13 ESV
Prayer:
Father, thank you for your Son Jesus Christ, and His redeeming blood. Thank you Father for the mercy and grace you have poured out through Him in full measure so that we might be called your children. Holy, Holy, Holy, are you who takes our hand, the hand of those who were once sinners, and sees only the worthy hand of Christ. We praise your name Holy Father for every blessing you have bestowed upon us, and for revealing the great mystery of your grace to all of creation as you call us sons and daughters. Hear our prayers of thanksgiving Lord, and smell the incense of Christ as it wafts from our hair, and clothing. By His stripes we have been healed, washed in living water, and through the oil of your grace we have been anointed as your children... what words do I have that can convey the joy and gratitude that flows from my heart? Help me to pray Holy Spirit, for today we have become the children of God, and sit clean, and undetectable, at His table forevermore.
“But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”
Revelation 21:27 ESV
