All in Fear

As Christians we claim that Jesus Christ is Lord, but so many of us continue to fret over the world as if it still reigns supreme in our lives... and when we do this, it does. Are you one of those who says he trusts in God, and then busily works at trying to solve the world’s problems for Him? Are national and world politics more than casual interests? Do you worry yourself sick about your health and dying despite knowing that you are already dead to this world, and are eternally secure in the next? Well let’s revisit our faith.

Are you an individual? Do you see yourself as distinctly and physically individual? How about your personality? In fact, the one is what you are, and the other is who you are. As individuals we are referring to our physical selves, and although alike in many ways, God has made each of us unique. Our personalities, on the other hand are experienced more than seen, and so boundless in their nature that only God can truly understand them. When Jesus speaks in John 17:22-23, which of these is he referring to?

Do you depend on your intellect to search out the wisdom of God? Do you study and ponder His Word to find truth there, or do you alternatively use your intellect to spoon feed yourself the Word, while your spirit seeks and sifts it for those things that are of God? When we depend upon our intellect it brings us very few of those wonderful revelations that we recognize as being of Him, but when our spirit is engaged, it finds treasure for us in His most glorious depths.
