All tagged worthy
This morning we study the story of the Canaanite woman who pursued Jesus, asking him to cure her daughter who was vexed by a devil. She knew that she wasn't a Jew, and thus unworthy of His attention, but she persisted in her worship of Jesus until He saw the faith she had in Him and granted her request.
Are we worthy of forgiveness? Are we worthy of the sacrifice that God made by giving His only Son to die for our sins? Are we worthy of an audience with the creator of the universe? Are we worthy of forgiveness? There are so many questions like this that most of us would answer with a resounding “NO!”, but is that really true?
We have accepted Jesus as our savior, and moved with our High Priest beyond the veil of the Holy of Holies sprinkled with His blood, and washed clean by the living water that flows from Him, but do we enter with a true heart? Do we simply find ourselves entering with our eyes open, with an inquisitive human mind, and an intellectual desire to see what awaits us there, or do we enter on our knees, praying, moaning in worship, and consumed by the Holy Spirit as we fearfully come into the presence of God? How do we pray? How do we come before God?
Are there things we do that bring joy to God and the heavenly host? Before you think that there is nothing, and that no one like you could possibly cause celebration in heaven, think about what occurs when a soul is saved... even yours. The moment you repented of your sins and accepted Jesus as the Son of God, and your savior, there is incredible joy in heaven. You are worth that much.
As we contemplate the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, how amazing it is that He did all this for us while we were embracing sin, and covered in the filth of the world. He came to us in His perfection, and we met Him dressed in rags, and filled with unrighteousness. Yet He came, He knocked at our heart’s door, and He waited for us; then He mercifully washed us clean from head to foot, and clothed us in righteous attire. Jesus lovingly prepares us, the lost, to meet His Father.
