My personal devotional reading this morning was about learning and unlearning from a Christian perspective, and it brought back memories of those things in my life that I had to let go of as I relearned them by replacing them with the truth that the Word of God shows us. Sometimes we advance in faith by being willing to let go of what the world has taught us; things we thought were true prior to the Holy Spirit leading us to a deeper understanding.

Do we seek out the will of the Father and obey it as we go about living each and every day of our lives? Do we say that we do the things which Jesus taught, and yet neglect to ask, seek, and knock on the door of God in search of His Holy will? If this is true then we are in dire straits, and Jesus will know us not when we stand in judgement. Nothing is more important to Him than to know and obey His Father’s will.

We must be careful in doing those things we think that God would have us do. So often we go about the job of accomplishing what we think is God’s will for us when it is actually our own contrived desire, and not His at all. Be cautious friends so that before it is time for us to take action we have thoroughly sought out, and understood, what it is that He expects of us... His will.
