One of the most frequent responses I receive from those who read my morning devotionals is a request for prayer. More often than not it is to join them in a specific prayer that they have been praying for some time without receiving an answer. Do you experience this from time to time in your prayer life? Well, if so, don’t be discouraged because the disciples failed to receive immediate answers to their prayers too, and Jesus taught them a powerful lesson in it.
As we draw near to completing this year of studying the subject of prayer I have been contemplating a statement that I read this morning during my time of devotion. It involves both our receipt of God's answer to the prayers we have prayed, and also how we justify our not having received an answer after we’ve asked Him for something.
Are we prepared to pray? By that I mean, are we prepared to pray and receive the blessing that we are speaking with God about? So often we come to the Lord unprepared; living one life and praying as if we lived another. I was reading Oswald Chambers and he spoke a truth that cuts us deep; it answers in part the question of "why is my prayer not answered?" Let’s listen to what he has to say…
Are we seeking the Lord as we should? Are we asking Jesus for the things that are right in the eyes of God? This morning let’s ask ourselves these questions and seeking to place Him foremost in our lives as we pray, and walk this world.
