Scripture says we should be further transformed in our thinking each day through studying the Word and redirecting our thoughts towards godly pursuits. As we draw closer to Jesus and The Father, we will be able to discern God's will and display to the world the image of Jesus. Our prayers will likewise be transformed, and the less mature or selfish prayers we once prayed will be transformed into prayers of intercession, or to those of deeper spiritual construction.
How often do we consume the Word of God? You will notice that I said consume, and not read, because merely reading it is not enough; God’s Holy Word is meant to nourish our soul, strengthen our spirit, and heal us of the wounds inflicted by the world. God’s Word is an inoculation against the pandemic of sin, and medicine that heals us body, mind, and soul from the spiritual wounds we might receive in life. Do we simply acknowledge the Bible, knowing of the Word, perhaps even rubbing a little of it on our skin, or do we take it internally as daily nourishment, medicine, and the knowledge that feeds God’s wisdom within us?
Do you consume the Word of God as if it were your greatest joy? Does it satisfy you completely like a feast for your soul? When we are called by God, and declare His Son Jesus to be our savior, we find ourselves transformed, and that God’s Word has become the greatest delicacy at His table. We consume it with amazing zeal, and the mere scent of it causes us to long continuously for its taste. Does this describe our longing, or have we lost a taste for the Word after years of the same steady diet?
