This morning our devotional contains many questions regarding prayer, Jesus and, his position as our Great High Priest. Yet for each question the answer is always the same “Yea”. Let’s listen as Pastor E.M. Bounds asks us a few of these questions, and then answers them, and let’s listen to Andrew Peterson’s modern day song in which he asks some amazing questions and then responds to them in song… “Is He Worthy”. These are questions regarding who, why, and what was given for us atop Calvary on this Good Friday, and there are so many more.

Have we ever been bold enough to ask Jesus one of the more difficult questions that His twelve disciples asked of Him? Are we afraid that our question would reveal a fault in us, or that we wouldn’t appear to understand something that perhaps we should have? Were we comfortable enough with Him to ask Him anyway? Let’s take one question today, and joining together in combined courage, strength, and boldness, let’s ask Him what we all would like to have answered… who is the greatest in heaven?

Do we stand a faithful watch as we wait for the Lord to reveal Himself to us, or to hear what He has to say once He does? When our waiting is rewarded, and God speaks, will He call us to task for something in our lives, or faith, and do we wonder what it will be, or how we will answer Him? As we look at our lives, and the practice of our faith, we would like to think that we are obeying Him in everything we do, and are righteous in all aspects of our lives, but are we serving the Lord as we should? Are we wise enough to even know? When He speaks, and we hear His voice, He will ask us a question that causes us to search for an answer, and as we do so, we will realize a fault, or shortcoming in ourselves that has gone unnoticed, or find wisdom that has previously been hidden from us. Are we watching, and listening as we should? Are we wanting to hear Him tell us a truth, or to ask us a question that will lead us to it?

How do we respond when Jesus asks us if we love Him? Do we simply answer yes without a second thought, or are we grieved that He would have to ask us this at all? Jesus knows us, and He already knows the answer to this question before He asks, so what is the point of it? His point is to reveal to us the degree to which we love Him. How many times must He ask us before we think deeply about our answer, and respond to Him from our heart? Perhaps we don’t grieve at all, and if this is the case then doesn’t that tell us a great deal about our faith as well?
