How do our lives fit together with our faith? Do our lives contain our faith, or does our faith contain our lives? The answer to this question dictates how we will approach the Holy Spirit, and even more than that, what our perception of faith actually is. Will there be joy flowing from our faith, or will we study its details looking for perfection, and fail? Perhaps we have solved this mystery... so that by living within our faith we find perfection and joy through Jesus alone. We are imperfect yet live encapsulated within the perfect sacrifice of Christ, and surrounded by grace and the will of God.

This morning while reading my daily devotional message written by Pastor E.M. Bounds I encountered a phrase I had heard several times before, but one that never ceases to cause me to pause and reflect on my Christian walk. We read the Bible online, and in paper or hardback form, but the very first Bible any unbeliever reads is covered in flesh… our flesh. We are the first introduction that sinners have to God’s Word.

This morning let's reflect on whether we are either leading or growing into a holy life that is full and rich. Let's ask ourselves the hard questions such as... "Am I seeking out holiness and the presence of God in all I do?" In our quest for a more enduring faith we should long to be holy, and long to be like Jesus in everything we do. Our lives should be dominated by a constant motivation, provided by prayer, to obtain holiness, and through that effort; salvation.

As Christians we are not meant to be blind to the meaning of God’s Holy Word, nor are we to be deaf to His truth that is contained there. There are many who read and study the Bible, and claim to know it, yet their hearts remain empty, and their minds like barren wastelands. I pray that we will never join these who will passionately argue scripture, or quote verse in hollow repetition, never feeling true love for the Lord, or Jesus Christ… not even in passing. They pour over the words, but not once do they feel or acknowledge God’s love, and presence, in His Holy Word.

How valuable do you consider God’s word? Do you keep it under lock and key, guard it with your life, memorize it, and contemplate it all the day long? Prior to the invention of the printing press it was considered the greatest treasure a man could have, and every copy of God’s Word took years to create, it was painstakingly reproduced by scribes... one letter, word, sentence, paragraph and page at a time. I ask again... How valuable do you consider God’s Word?
