Living Holy with God in Our House

We have accepted Jesus as our savior, and we have separated ourselves from the sinful life we once led, but are we righteous? More than that, are we Holy? When asked, many Christians will define holy as being dedicated, or separated, to God, but this is only part of the equation... it also means that we are meant to be for His use, righteous, and divine. These are not qualities that are part of separation, but are the things that fill us once we have been set apart, emptied, and purified in preparation for His use.

Are we really Good?

As Christians we are told, and like, to do good things for those around us. In obeying God by doing good, we often mistake one another as being good, and we say such things as “He is a good man”, or “She is such a good person.”, but if Jesus would not let the rich young man call him good, then how can we possibly refer to one another in this way? Jesus was making a distinction between the act of doing good, and actually being good. We, like Jesus, are doers of good; not actually the embodiment of good, which is limited to God alone.

Are we afraid to be called Holy?

If we are to dwell with God in eternity we must be contrite regarding our sins, and our spirit must be found humble. If we are unrepentant, and haughty how can we possibly be as Jesus is, and in this way we will fall short of God’s desire that we be holy as He is Holy. In the course of our faith why do we shy away from being identified as holy? Are we afraid that we will fall short of such a lofty expectation and title? Well, fear not!
