Are we slaves to instinctive worldly reflexes... this is a recipe for instant sin, and an avenue for our inner person, the fallen man, to bypass our faith and intellect as his voice erupts from our mouths. Conquering this ancient sinful creature within each of us requires that we secure him in heavenly handcuffs and chains that only the Holy Spirit can bind him with.
The damage brought by carrying anger or hatred in us for long periods of time is my concentration today. Do we resolve our conflicts and issues quickly, and move to forgive in a timely manner, or do we continue to suffer as we carry that heavy baggage day after day. What does God's Word tell us about this?
Have we wandered from the Lord our God, and worshipped one or more of the many worldly gods that entice us? Have we sought delight in power, wealth, or possessions, and for all our worldly successes, found ourselves lacking? If this is who we are then it is time to return to the Lord and become complete in Him. His anger with us has been overcome, and put to rest, on the cross at Calvary, and we can return to live once more in the merciful comfort of His shadow. Through our faith in Jesus Christ we are made to blossom again.
Do we flirt with sin in our lives, and think that we will not yield to it? There is enough temptation in this world without purposely seeking out its company, or not removing ourselves from situations whose natural outcome is anger, and sin. We read scripture about anger, and are told not to tarry in it, because pots brought to a boil will eventually boil over. Certain things in life are not sins, in and of themselves, but are catalysts that lead to sin. If the love of money is the root of all evil then anger is its close companion. Anger is the cradle in which sin is rocked, and given into the world.
