Let’s consider our bodies today, and ask ourselves if we protect and honor them in the ways we share them. First of all let’s ask ourselves who, or what, we should share our bodies with, and ask ourselves if by doing so we remain holy in the process. There is scriptural mention of seven specific ways that one can share their bodies… physically with their spouse, with someone whom they are not married to, someone of the same sex, an animal, and then three spiritual ways… with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit who come to abide within us. Three of these ways are sinful, and four are sanctioned by God. So let’s ask ourselves who we allow ourselves to become one with? With whom, or what, do we share our bodies, which we know are the temples of God?

As men and women called by God, and sent by Jesus to spread the good news of His Gospel, it is more than disappointing that out of fear we are reluctant to carry this treasure of life to those who need it most. We will readily face hardship and even death to preach the good news from a hillside, but we shy away from engaging directly with those whose sin is repugnant to us, or we feel is an abomination to God. We fear their sin will taint us in some way, bring criticism upon us, or defile us, so by our fear we leave them untouched, and God’s gift undelivered, dooming the most needy to face a sinner’s death. When we look at ourselves, is this who we see?

Men and women today, like the nation of Israel in the time of Hosea, can find that they have wandered far from the Lord, and become abominations in His eyes, but even in such a state His love remains for them, and He patiently seeks after them, and calls them back to Him. Are there those among us who have become whores to the world, similar to how Hosea described Israel? Do we sell ourselves to the highest bidder, and think that what we receive in pay comes from anyone but God? Do we worship false gods as Israel worshiped Baal? Well there is hope because although He will lead them into a wilderness alone, He will speak to them there, and rekindle their faith.
