When do we feel closest to God? Do we feel Him most when our stomachs are full, our lives are comfortable, and we have plenty of water to quench our thirst? If that were so then why is it that people are most inclined to wander away from Him at times such as this? No, we are most centered before Him when we are experiencing tribulation, and doing the hard things of His will. It is through the lenses of our tears that we see God most clearly, and It is also through them that He looks back at us, finding our soul, and peering deep into our heart... with perfect clarity.

We are all sinners, but how wonderful it is that we have the opportunity to behold the Lamb of God. He is our hope, and without Him we would most certainly be lost. This is Jesus who has taken away the sin of the world. Have we met Him, or does he remain unknown to us? Men continue to seek Him, and ask these questions... Will He end my struggles, if not then will He help me through them, or is He asking the impossible of me?

As you look behind you can you see that God has had His hand upon you, and has been helping you? Have you praised Him for His help, and perhaps even honored Him by raising a monument of some type to Him... a stone of help, or Ebenezer as it is called? Perhaps it was a sapling, if you are wealthy it was an inscription on a building, or if you are poor a pile of rocks. Whatever it is do you think His helping you has ended? No, His help continues, despite what has happened in our lives His help never ceases.

Have you ever been so put upon, so set upon, or felt so downtrodden in life that you feared God Himself had abandoned you? What did you do in that time of great fear, sorrow, or suffering? What was the state of your faith at that moment? Were you on the verge of turning away from the Lord, or did you seek Him more fervently? Was your faith waining, or was it surging as you leaned upon it?

Do you suffer and not understand why God allows it to happen? Do you experience misery in your life, or see it in others, and ask God in prayer to remove this from you, or from those you intercede for in prayer? Well, as men it is natural for us to wince and withdraw from pain, but as faithful creatures it brings us to perfection in our faith, obedience, and prayers for the suffering and afflicted. How perfect are you being made? How perfect are your prayers?

We must face tribulation on our journey towards the kingdom of God. Some who begin their walk Of faith seem to believe that by following Jesus they will not face hardship or suffering yet that is not the case. What is true is that Jesus will be right there with us in the midst of our tribulation, and that the promise of heaven remains our solid promise, and that the joy of God shines before us in the form of Jesus as a continuous reminder.
