How strong is our love for God? Do we love Him so completely that our every thought includes Him, and we can’t imagine a moment’s existence without Him? Has our love grown so complete that we find ourselves joined as one with Him, and our desires now reflecting His? If this is the case then He will give us what He has Promised, our heart’s desires... Himself.
When Satan comes against us in the world he looks for the chinks in our armor, but our defenses are complete in the perfect protection of God. Our fear of the dark one comes because we don’t understand the war being waged. We think that victory or defeat depends on the earthly wounds we sustain in mortal battles, and we assign might to others by what occurs in the here and now. Yet, though our bodies, loves, and possessions might suffer, and though we be pierced while upon our crosses, these wounds are of little consequence because the war is not over our physical selves, but for the disposition of our souls.
As creatures of a combined spirit, and body, we need to tend to the needs of both, and Jesus wasn’t negligent of that fact. When He taught He fed the spiritual side of those who had gathered about Him, and when they were physically Exhausted, and hungry, he fed their bodies. A good example was on the day He performed the miracle of the loaves and fishes. He kept a balance in His teaching, and in His own life as well... praying, eating, drinking, washing, and bathing; each in its own perfect measure.
