Whose interest are we promoting through our faith? Are we seeking a smoother way for ourselves through life, or perhaps a fine meal at God's table in heaven after we take our last breath? Are we obeying God’s Word and commandments out of self-interest, or to serve the same interests of Jesus Christ? Jesus loved God, obeyed His will, and in every aspect of Christ’s life His sole purpose was to glorify God. Do we live out our faith in this manner? Is our every desire meant to do these same things that Jesus taught us?

The first thing we are told to do in prayer is to confirm that God, our Holy Father, is hallowed. It isn’t by accident that Jesus taught us to pray this way, it is an affirmation of our submission to God, and an acknowledgement of His glory. One of the hardest things for us as humans to do is to give up our pride in self, our claim to glory, and to cast our crowns at the feet of anything... even God. Our arrogance is the thread that holds together the veil between ourselves, and God.

In this age of selfishness, and the hoarding to ourselves the riches of the earth, it is easy to give a tithe, and say it is enough, but that is just what God told us to set aside for His purposes. Is this, or our words, the only way we are asked to praise God, or is there more? Are we to adhere to the law, or go beyond it as Jesus did to feed the hungry, and give drink to the thirsty... even as He did for us with His own blood and body.
