After Jesus had been going about the land teaching and performing miracles he returned home. When we look at this portion of His life we talk about how He was rejected by the people there in Nazareth, but for the most part we skip over the fact that when He returned home, He started doing those same things He had done while growing up... He went to synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood to read. This scripture refers to these as being His custom. What are our customs? What are we doing now in our pursuit of God, and faith that are becoming who we are?

In Christ we experience the ultimate freedom. Knowing Jesus doesn’t put us in bondage, no, quite the contrary, it sets us free as we live out our faith, and as it boils down all of the law that once governed us in the Old Testament days into principals that are not heavy chains of rule, and discipline, but fluttering flags of freedom! Our faith is not oppressive, but joyous, and its yoke is easy.

Are you happy? By this I mean are you confident with your life to the point of being blissful and happy without nary a care, or unfulfilled desire... like a child whose parent loves and cares for them perfectly? Do you think this is even possible? Well, in God and Jesus Christ it is more than possible, but you must give all your cares over to God, and place all your desire in Jesus... knowing you are Theirs like family, and that They will watch over you.

Are you unsatisfied in your prayer life? Do you ask in prayer, and yet feel unfulfilled when you rise from your knees? Do you recite scripture in your prayers and cry out, yet leave your prayer closet feeling as though God might not have heard you? Well, perhaps you are missing a key lesson that was taught by Jesus. Maybe you need to listen as he teaches us to pray in spirit and truth.
