We recite a prayer before meals, and at bedtime, and together we pray in church service as we repeat the Lord’s Prayer, but for most Christians that is the extent of our regular communication with God. Oh, we might say a prayer when we are in danger or the midst of trouble, but that is a one-sided prayer and seldom a conversation, and all we really want to hear Him say in response to us is “I’ve Got it!” Does this describe your prayer life? If so then you are missing out on the greatest blessing of faith… conversational prayer.

How often do you walk with a God? I am not talking about just reading the Bible, attending church, performing works such as feeding the hungry, or praying your needs to Him, but how often do you actually walk with him in conversation? Sometimes we get so busy doing things, and saying things of faith, that we forget that this is not a checklist, or a job, it is a loving relationship, we are children, and that some walks with Him, if we choose to take them,  take hours, days, weeks, or longer.

When did you begin to pray? Can you remember, or was it so long ago that it has been lost in the mist of your memory? Did you begin praying at the moment you confessed God as your creator, Jesus as your savior, or even before you understood who they were and you cried out in the darkness of your night for help... not knowing exactly who would come, but knowing someone greater than yourself would respond? Prayer, it begins with a cry, and ends in a conversation of love and eternity.

Do you really know how to pray? No? Well, do you know how to talk with God? There is no secret to having a conversation with the Lord, and no secret to answered prayer, just one simple fact... it we pray in unison with the conversation we are having with Him, and ask for those things we agree on during that interaction, then He will do those things for us.
