Today I want to talk to those who believe they are too sinful to come before the Lord and be forgiven. Do you desire to know Jesus Christ and our Father God, but in your sin feel unworthy to approach them? Does your unrighteous lifestyle keep you from praying and asking God for His forgiveness? If this is true then there is good news… God loves us, and if we are willing He will teach us how to change our lives from one of worldly sin into one that conforms to His ways. This is a very basic truth of our God… David knew it, and wrote about it in Psalms, and it is just as true for us today. Are we willing to believe that God loves us, and that Jesus died for us while we were yet sinners? If so the come!
“Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.”
Psalm 25:8 ESV
So many would-be believers feel like they must better ourselves before they can pray, and can come before the Lord, but if we were required to become righteous before we could believe then there would be no one in heaven on the day after judgement because we are all sinners when we first come to the altar and yield by giving our lives to Christ. We can’t become righteous, Holy, or perfect without the transformation that comes from Jesus Christ alone…so come!
“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:6-8 ESV
We hear the words that “whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life”, but then we look in the mirror at ourselves we lose heart. The person we see there isn’t worthy to wash the feet of Jesus, let alone walk into the presence of God with Him. We think it unbelievable that the God of the all creation could love us, or even tolerate us, but He does… so come!
““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 ESV
Satan would have us believe that we are totally separated from God, and hopelessly unable to redeem ourselves. Well, he is the king of lies and half-truths, and when he tells us this it is just another of his half-truths. Here is what is completely true… sin does separate us from God, but our Father has made a way to reconcile us to Himself. It is also true that we are unable to redeem ourselves, but what Lucifer fails to tell us is that God sent His Son Jesus Christ to take on our sins and wash us clean of them with His perfect sacrifice, and His redeeming blood… so come!
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
John 3:17 ESV
Jesus is our hope, our rock, and our salvation. We are all sinners when we come to Him, but He redeems us, and in this truth our hope abounds. He takes on our sin, and leaves us spotless before our Heavenly Father. Believe in this, trust in this, that your hope will become real in this… so come!
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:8-9 ESV
So if you are being called to know Jesus today, and you desire to change your life… then come! If you want to be found worthy of eternity then have faith… and come! If you want to be cleansed of every sin and made pure in the blood of Christ…then come! If you want to be loved as if in a dream, and beyond all understanding… then come! And, if you desire to become a child of God who knows His perfect peace… then come! In order to make your every spiritual and physical hope a reality… simply come to Jesus, and be transformed in Him!
“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:5-7 ESV
Prayer:
Father, thank you for loving us while we were yet sinners, and making a way for us through the sacrifice of your Son Jesus so that we can be reconciled to you. Thank you for your mercy, grace, and perfect forgiveness. Thank you for separating us from our sins casting them away, as far as the east is from the west, choosing not to remember them, and transforming us into righteous men and women. Call us to your son Jesus, and help us to abide in Him and to open our hearts so that He can abide in us. Through His holy transformation, change the image we see of ourselves when we look into the mirror each day by making us to be as He is. Holy, Holy, Holy, are you our God who loved us while we were yet sinners, and made a way for us to come to you in Christ. Praised be your name for every instruction you give us as we make our way to you, and for every measure of transformation we receive from our Lord Jesus. Merciful are you who calls us to know Jesus. Amazing is your grace that that takes even our most filth and reprehensible sin and washes it away with His blood. Help us to be transformed into His righteous image Lord so that on our Day of Judgement you will not see who we once were, but who we are now in Christ. Take every righteous desire we once hoped for and make it real on that day. Call us your children and let us walk with you throughout eternity. Give us your calm, peace, joy, and comfort forevermore… and in every perfect manifestation of your character let us hear and obey your command… come!
“The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.”
Revelation 22:17 ESV
