Removing the Earthly from our Spiritual Calling

04/27/2021

Today I want to pray a blessing over you; the same prayer of blessing that was prayed in Hebrews. Many of you are Pastors, Saints, and Missionaries, who have prayed this blessing over others, but it is especially relevant to your calling, and your lives. Today I ask for God to equip you with every good thing you need as you go about doing His will, and the good work in us that you have been called to do. For some this equipment will be new, but to most it has already been given... if you will only open your eyes, and trust in His provision as you witness to others, and save souls with these tools of faith.

“Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:20-21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We often make excuses for what we perceive to be spiritual failures as we go about doing earthly things while attempting to walk a path that was meant to be a spiritual journey. We allow ourselves to be redirected towards carnal goals and then become discouraged when we find that we are lacking what it takes to accomplish them. God says “Glorify Me!”, and we say “I need more equipment Lord!”, as we attempt to build Him a glorious building when what He actually desires is for us to deliver the gospel to a single soul that remains unreached, and who is meant to bring hundreds more to faith in Christ. We are often deaf, and go about applying our earthly definition of glory to a Heavenly request... taking what is spiritual and transforming it to something ornate, and overtly physical.

“Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Moses was called to lead the Israelites out of Egypt from a bush which was burning but not consumed... this was a spiritual calling, but in his eyes he wasn’t physically equipped to do this thing? All he had was a staff; the simple wooden tool of a Shepherd... until God told him to throw it on the ground and it immediately became a serpent. Moses saw only a staff because he had earthly eyes, and he felt that he couldn’t do what God was asking of him because he saw it as a physical challenge. Isn’t that what many of us who are called by God do when He speaks? We take a spiritual quest and look at it through the eyes of a carnal man, and we do likewise when we look at the tools God has given us when we were called. We complain because we believe that our staff isn’t enough to accomplish the earthy mission we feel that we have been called to do, and can’t see the miracle within it. Sometimes we even run from it once it is revealed to us...

“And he said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses ran from it.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭4:3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We may be Pastors, Saints, Missionaries, or even new to our faith, but we have all been called to Christ. The question becomes this... how do we perceive our particular calling? Pray for God to reveal the truth to you regarding His will for you, and then look at how well He has equipped you to accomplish it. Don’t see your burning bush and wonder about its origin, don’t hear God’s voice and look for a physical understanding, don’t hold a simple staff when it is far more miraculous than that.

Today I pray a special blessing over each of you. I pray that God will equip you for the spiritual journey He has called you to take, and that He will open your eyes to see His true will, and desire for you, as you travel. I pray that you will see the straight road ahead that He has prepared for you, and not the twisted way of the world that we so often perceive him to be sending us down. I pray that He blesses you with each heavenly step that He asks you to take, and lights your way as you glorify Him... one soul at a time.

“but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:5-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Prayer:

Father, I thank you for my calling, and for calling each one of your children to take a special spiritual journey with you. I thank you Lord for equipping each one of us with exactly what we need to accomplish your will for us as we move forward in our faith. Open our eyes Holy Father so that we see the road you have illuminated before us, and help us to remain forever on its straight and narrow way. Take our worldly eyes and turn them inward towards our spiritual selves so that we can clearly see your glory, and hear your voice calling “Come!” Holy, Holy, Holy, are you our God who is spirit, and loves us more than we can begin to comprehend. Praised be your name for every blessing that you bestow upon us as you equip us to do your will. Hear my voice this day as I pray for each of your children. Hear me Father as I ask you to bless them as they lead those who are spiritually lost to you, and by revealing yourself to them as they seek you out, and take the pilgrimage journey you have prepared for them. Remove all doubt from their faith, and equip them with your righteousness.

Father, wash us clean in the blood of your Son Jesus, and in this way make us worthy of spending eternity with you. Now hear me as I pray these words of blessing over all of your children again today, and ask that you draw them nearer to you as they tread faithfully along your way.... barefoot upon your Holy ground.

“ Remove all doubt from our faith, and equip us with your righteousness. Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:20-21‬ ‭ESV‬‬
