Where would we be without God’s amazing love, and mercy towards us? We would be lost to ourselves, and all of the anarchy, hatred, and violence that flows from us. We like to think that we are intrinsically good, but our actions indicate otherwise; we are sinful creatures who yield to sin and chaos. Without the incredible love towards us that prompted God to send his Son Jesus to die for our sins at the hands of this human chaos, and hatred, we would truly be lost. He redeems us and transforms us day by day with His love, mercy, and grace.
“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
Psalms 136:1 KJV
( the word mercy used in the King James translation is translated as love in others)
God sent Jesus to redeem us from sin... the sin that had become embodied in us when Adam and Eve consumed the forbidden fruit; taking it into their bodies; into themselves internally. Through Christ He mercifully, and lovingly, desires to save us from ourselves. We, who are our own worst enemies.
“Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever: And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
Psalms 136:23-24 KJV
God loves us so completely that He is working through Christ to not only provide forgiveness for our past and present sins, but to liberate us from sin altogether, and transform us so completely that the very desire for sin is overcome in us. He is remaking us in His image once more, but we must accept Him as our God, and Jesus as His Son; our savior.
“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 KJV
For His love, goodness, and mercy we need to give thanks to God, and praise Him from the depths of our souls. His love, and mercy do endure forever, and in the depth of this love He is patient and long suffering with us despite our waywardness. We can’t thank and praise Him enough. Read Psalm 136 in its entirety, and realize that we should praise Him for every good action in which He reveals Himself in our lives... our thanks should be as unending as His love, and our transformation.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever;”
Psalm 136:1-3 ESV
Are we ready to be transformed? Are we ready to accept the God of Abraham as our Lord, and His Son Jesus as our savior? Are we ready to not only be forgiven of our sins, but to follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance as we are lead into a complete liberation from sin? Let’s join hands to begin our journey away from human chaos and into the image of God Himself... singing, praising, and thanking God as we go.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for your love and mercy which brought Jesus Christ to us as our savior, and redeemer. Father we thank you for our transformation into your image as we follow your Holy Spirit day by day. Protect us from our enemies Lord, and in so doing save us from the worst of them... ourselves. Holy, Holy, Holy, are you our God who is good, loving, merciful, and full of grace. Praised be your name Lord for loving us with a love that endures, and for giving us hope where the world provides us with none. Hear our pleas for forgiveness Father, and our prayers of thanksgiving, and for a strengthening of our belief, as we make spiritual conversation with you. Mighty are you Holy Father as you triumph over sin and death, and great is your grace as you show us mercy in your judgement. Send us Angels to help us Lord as we wash ourselves in the blood of Christ. Let them sing praises of our love for you as we are dressed in the white robes of purity, and are prepared to stand in judgement before you. See in us the face of your Son Jesus when you look upon us, and judge us by His goodness... finding us worthy of eternity with you. Thus, pour your love over us like living water, and seat us at your table forevermore.
“Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
Psalm 136:26 ESV
