In whom do we trust when we rise to face each morning? In whom do we entrust the safety of our souls when we close our eyes each night? Who Is it that walks with us every step of our day? The world would have us believe that men can lead us, and watch over us, yet there is no strength in their arms, nor wisdom they can employ that we don’t possess ourselves, and we are not enough. God, and Jesus Christ are our true hope, and our certain salvation; in them we find perfect trust, and from them comes our safety, sure passage through life, and every blessing.
““Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.”
Jeremiah 17:7 ESV
When we are still unbelievers, and we find ourselves facing trouble, we try first to reason our way out of it, then when we fail at that we turn to other men around us for help, and seek their wisdom and protection. Only once we have exhausted all the resources of man do we realize that we are lost, alone, and open ourselves to a greater power. When our despair has reached a crescendo, and our hearts are overcome by fear, only then do we turn to something more than ourselves, seeking what must certainly exist beyond, and in that moment we hear the voice of God calling our name, and assuring us.
“fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 ESV
Are you at a point such as this in your life? Are you someone who has always been totally self-assured, and who has trusted in his own skill and wisdom when facing life’s troubles? Have you found that you, or those who surround you, have always enough to solve every problem... until now? Do you find yourself calling blindly into the wind, asking help from that which you don’t really know, seeking help from God, even though He is strange to you?
“Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long? Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.”
Psalms 6:2-4 KJV
It is frightening how quickly we can be overcome by the world, and its troubles have many flavors... they will snap us In an instant like a twig, and Circumstances can bring us to our knees with a single blow.
“therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a moment he will be broken beyond healing.”
Proverbs 6:15 ESV
But No matter how suddenly trouble descends on us, God will come to us even more quickly, and rescue us. He doesn’t have to come from far away because He is already there. God is with us always, and even though you haven’t known Him, He has known you, and is waiting to hear you call out to Him.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Psalms 46:1 NIV
So are you facing troubles alone, or with others who are equally as incapable of solving them? If this sounds familiar then it is time to call out to God, and place your trust in Him. If you will do this then He will answer you, rescue you, stand over you through your long nights, and lead you successfully away from every trouble. God will become to you your strong tower, provider, and He in whom you can always trust. By trusting in Him He will bless you beyond your wildest dreams, and give you joy and peace like you have never known. Call the name of Jesus, and pray God, Father, Abba, Lord, and He will deliver you.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for being with us always, and answering our prayers as we call out to you. Father, thank you for your Son Jesus Christ through whom we come to you, and who intercedes for us. Thank you Heavenly Father for loving us while we were yet sinners, and sending Jesus to live, suffer, die, and be resurrected so that we would be redeemed. He has defeated sin, death, and overcome the world. Open the eyes of those who do not know Him, and give them an understanding of faith through your Holy Spirit. In their desperation, and unknowing, let your Holy Spirit pray for them and give utterance to the suffering of their spirits. Lead all of your children to trust in you, and find comfort and joy in you always. Holy, Holy, Holy, are you who awaits the voice of the unbeliever, and leads Him to know, and trust in you through Jesus Christ. Amazing, and long suffering is your patience, and merciful are you who provides such perfect grace. Praised be your name for every lost soul that is lead to call out your name, and glorious are you who gives them hope, salvation, and an everlasting trust in you. Hear their prayers Father, and hear mine now as I pray for them, and their acceptance of you. Mend their spirits Father, and lead them to a faith in you that is everlasting, and their greatest joy forevermore.
““He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.”
2 Samuel 22:17-20 NIV
